The Pixy Cam is a simplified vision system originally developed as a kickstarter program. The Pixy Cam detects blobs of color, so it does not perform more advanced vision analysis of shape or angle. What it lacks in sophistication is makes up for with simplicity.

Physical Connections

The sensor itself can be attached to a number of mounts using 5 #4-40 bolts. Note that there are several surface mounted electronics on the back side of the sensor, so small standoffs are required is rear mounting.

Wiring

There are 3 sets of pins and a USB port on the sensor. Charmed Labs has extensive documentation on the pinouts. The main 10-pin connector uses a custom connector.

Programming

The pan-tilt mechanism that can be purchased for the pixy-cam is sloppy in the opinion of team 1719. A modified version of an older FRC pan-tilt assembly has been designed which fits into the pre-existing pan-tilt unit, but center the pixy-cam to be aligned with the rotation axes.
